In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, the actor shared his longing to step back into the shoes of Hatoda Tyagi, while also reflecting on the anticipation surrounding the upcoming season 2 of the show. Additionally, Abhishek Banerjee provided insights into his role in Ayushmann Khurrana’s upcoming film, Thama.
In a conversation about Thama, Abhishek Banerjee teased, “I’m stepping into the horror universe, that much I can reveal. But wherever there’s terror, adventure awaits. Let’s see what unfolds.” When questioned about the possibility of reviving Hatoda Tyagi in Paatal Lok 2, he lamented the character’s demise in the first season, indicating that fans shouldn’t expect a return in the new season. “It truly breaks my heart that Hatoda Tyagi won’t be part of Paatal Lok 2. I was eager to portray him again. Unfortunately, fate hasn’t been on my side; even in Mirzapur, my character met a similar end. However, with the Mirzapur film on the horizon, there’s still hope that Hatoda Tyagi might make a comeback when Paatal Lok transitions to the big screen,” he remarked.
Abhishek also praised the forthcoming season, stating, “I can’t wait for the second season; it’s shaping up to be phenomenal, and I know they’ve captured something extraordinary. Jaideep Ahlawat is going to deliver an exceptional performance.” Reflecting on his journey, he noted how Paatal Lok was a pivotal moment in his career. “The kind of success I experienced with Stree 2 is reminiscent of the impact Hatoda Tyagi had during Paatal Lok. Unfortunately, during those COVID times, much of the attention came through virtual platforms,” he concluded.
